1. The Institute was found on October 20, 1930; it had two
Faculties (Zootechnics and Veterinary) and was called the Zooveterinary
Institute. Ya. P. Polushin was the first director (Rector). During the first
year the Institute enrooled 150 students.
The Faculty of Agronomy was opened in 1944 and the Institute changed its
name to the Agricultural Institute. Many famous scientists had studied at the
Institute, among them: V.P.Urban - Academician of the All-Union Academy of
Agriculture, L.K.Ernst - Academician, Vice-President of All-Union Academy of
Agriculture.
At different time work at the Institute Professors: N.P.Krasnopyorov,
E.A.Shtina, N.N.Komaritsyn, A.S.Khrustalyov, L.I.Tselishchev, N.V.Rudnitsky,
A.M.Guryevich, I.P.Makarov, V.V.Tulin, V.I.Tiunov, P.G.Petskoi.
The present Rector of the Institute is Professor A.K.Bolotov.
2. The Institute has 5 Faculties:
which enroll about 4000 students (2700 full-time and 1300 part-time).
The Institute structure includes 40 Departments, a library, an
experemental farm.
3. 320 teachers and lecturers work at the Institute, among them - 23 Professors, Doctors of Science and 174 Associate Professors, Candidates of Sciences.
4. Students are trained in the following specialities:
The Institute offers special training courses for applicants (part-time and extra-mural), a refresher course.
5. The Institute's research corresponds to the republician special purpose scientific and technical programmes.
