1. The Institute was founded in Febrary 1952 and had 2 Faculties (Mechanical Technologies and Michine-Building), which enrolled 200 students. V.P.Ostroumov, Associate Professor, Candidate of Sciences was the first Rector of the Institute.
Well-known scientists: N.V.Vorobyov, N.V.Azbelev, V.A.Kaprunin, M.T.Kalashnikov, Ye.F.Dragunov, V.A.Sipailov, M.S.Gorokhov, A.M.Lipanov, N.V.Talantov, O.I.Shavrin lectured at the Institute at different times.
Rector of the Institute - I.V.Abramov, Professor, Doctor of Sciences.

2. Today, the Institute has 6 Faculties:


There are branches of the Institute in Votkinsk, Sarapul, Tchaikovsky and Glazov. The Institute has 49 Departments, 16 of them include research and educational centres uniting an Institute department and some manufacturing enterprises.
The institute structure includes an educational centre for continuous training of engineers, a research department, a computer centre, a scientific library, the Institute museum, a health care centre, a polyclinic, a medical centre with technical faculties; an advertising and publishing department, a sprots centre, a holiday home on the Kama, the students' club "Integral".

3. 644 teachers and lecturers work at the Institute, aming them - 5 Academicians and Associate Academicains, 33 Professors and Doctors of Sciences, 314 Associate Professors and Candidates of Sciences.

4. Students are trained in 17 specialities:


The Institute has a preparatory department and special training courses for applicants.

5. The Institute's research programme corresponds to the specialists' training orientation.
49 postgraduates pursue their study at the Institute; there are 2 Specialized Academic Councils for awarding Doctor's degrees and 1 Academic Council for awarding Candidate's degrees.

6. Within the framework of the International programme (in which the Institute is a co-exeutor), business contacys have been established with the technical universities of the USA, Czechia, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Germany, and the Balkan educational and research association.
